Middlesex eye Yuvraj after Tendulkar talks fail

New Delhi: English county side Middlesex have confirmed they are in talks to sign Yuvraj Singh as their second overseas player for this year’s Twenty20 Cup.

Middlesex were originally talking to Sachin Tendulkar, who turned down their offer to prolong his international career.

Yuvraj could further boost the batting strength of the county in the T20 format, after Adam Gilchrist confirmed in November.

A major stumbling block to negotiations with Yuvraj could be India’s unconfirmed international schedule.

The tournament will start on June 1 with the finals in August, and India have been considering a tri-series involving Sri Lanka during the same time.
